Why a River Cruise

1. Intimate size

River cruises have less than 100 staterooms. This makes getting on and off a breeze. There are never line ups for the restaurant or excursions. Because river cruises can only accommodate approx. 200 guests, it is also recommended that you book at least 6 months in advance because space it limited and they book up fast.

 2. Some excursions are included

Enjoy city walk orientations that are included at most ports. Many River Cruise companies offer complimentary use of bicycles that allow you to enjoy the city even more.

 3. Wine, beer and soft drinks are complimentary with dinner

Many of the wines and beers offered are from the region you are cruising through and there is always more than one option to choose from. There are plenty of other beverage options available at the bar for a nominal fee.

4. Casual setting for dinner

Dinners are a casual setting so there's no need to pack your tuxedo or ball gown. There is only one dinner time and you sit where you want, with whomever you want. You are not restricted to sit at the same table every day which allows you to mingle. If you want a more intimate setting, there are also tables for two.

5. You rarely feel any movement

Some people are afraid to cruise because of “motion sickness”. River cruises rarely have any motion from waves and they move at a slow pace. Sometimes you don't realise your moving, until you look outside.

6. Beautiful scenery

Depending on your itinerary, you are sailing past medieval castles and stone ruins which give you fantastic photo opportunities. You can sit on the top deck with a book and a glass of wine and soak in all the scenery as you sail on by, without a care in the world.

7. Quaint towns

Walk off the ship, right into town and experience destinations rarely visited by large coach buses and ocean cruise liners. Soak up the atmosphere as you walk along the cobble stone streets. Browse through a local market, marvel at the historic architecture and try some delightful delicacies.

8. Adult atmosphere

The activities on board are typically not geared towards children so you won’t find many kids on board a river cruise. Nightly entertainment may include Gin and beer tastings, electric violinists and dancing the night away. Sometimes you will even get a history lesson on the next destination you are visiting.

9. Multiple Destinations

Because you are travelling to small cities, you will sometimes visit more than 1 port in a day. Just enough time to walk around, get a feel for the town, enjoy a coffee and some shopping and move on to the next.

 10. Unpack once

Experience these wonderful itineraries knowing you be staying in the same luxurious accommodations for the duration of your cruise. Check in, unpack and enjoy!
